I'm writing this blog early because I'm going to be out for most of the evening. It's not conductive to noveling, but I could use a break from my fictional universe. So I'll be spending some time with family tonight and I'll attack this thing again in the morning.
My wordcount is at about 80k right now, and I don't expect it to get to much higher before midnight, but I'm hoping that I can squeeze in a couple more hours of writing before bed.
I see that a lot of fellow Wrimos have been validating within the past couple of days. If this is you, congratulations, Winner!! If you haven't gotten there yet, then don't worry. Just do your best and you'll have won by the time November ends, whether you have 50k or 5k.
Today I spent longer than I care to admit fleshing out characters who've been around since before day one. On the one hand, I feel like I could have much better spent this time sprinting to add some thousand words to my wordcount. On the other hand, I feel like I've finally put a lot about my characters into words, and I think that will help me to write them as time goes on: during the rest of the month and during revisions and any further writing I do of them. It's also helped me to see a main antagonist in a more sympathetic light, which I've been struggling to do all month.
Sorry if this blog post is brief and a bit rushed, but it's past five o'clock for me and I really have to go and get ready for tonight. I hope that I'll have more time to focus on blogging tomorrow night to kind of make up for the lack of details tonight.
